A tribute gift is a donation made in honor or memory of someone who has made a significant contribution—to your life, or to the profession. Whether the honoree is your ophthalmologist, spouse, friend, family member or colleague, a tribute gift is a meaningful way to honor this person. To make a tribute gift, click here to donate online or print out and complete a donation form and mail it with your gift. When you make a tribute gift, the Academy Foundation sends a note of acknowledgment to the honoree (or the honoree’s surviving family), so please include the name and address of the person we should notify.

Making a tribute gift is a special way of expressing thanks and gratitude for somebody who has made a difference in your life.  By making a tribute gift, either in Honor or in Memory of someone, you are not only supporting the Academy Foundation’s educational and public service mission, but you are also making a declaration of appreciation for someone whose involvement in your life—such as a physician, a colleague or a loved one—made a difference you want to recognize.

In their own words, here is one couple’s account of their tribute gift to the Academy Foundation:

“We are making this gift in honor of the many Stanford University faculty, both past and present, because of their dedication to resident education and the time they so generously donated over many years.  Excellent resident education requires the efforts of many clinical and academic faculty members with a breadth of backgrounds and perspectives.  The strength of the Stanford Ophthalmology residency training experience was the number and variety of faculty members in private practice and on the full-time staff who devoted their time and energy to training residents at the three medical centers, both in the clinics, in the operating rooms and in their private offices.”

When you make a tribute gift, not only do you receive recognition and thanks, but the honoree will receive notification of your gift and your names will be listed in the Academy Foundation’s Annual Report, on the Donor Wall displayed during the Annual Meeting and shown here on the Academy Foundation’s Web site.

The following Honor Roll recognizes individuals who have made a Tribute Gift between the period of April 1, 2007 to current.  The list will be regularly updated as further donations are received.  Thank you for your generosity. (Honoree is listed first, followed by donor or group of donors in italics.)
